Haibike HardNine 7.0 2021

DESCRIPTION Haibike HardNine 7

The Haibike HardNine 7.0 brings comfort to our off-road trips thanks to the front suspension and the advantages provided by the diameter of its 29-inch wheels, with which we feel the terrain less bumpy and we will move with greater speed. Add to that the powerful assistance at our service, and it's like riding with the wind at your back: a great ride with a minimum of effort.

WTB's 2.6-inch-wide Ranger Comp tires ensure sufficient protection with their grip and impulse technology. The cross-section volume, flexibility and wear resistance provide a versatile performance in different terrains and conditions, as well as low rolling resistance. All these characteristics combined with the relatively large footprint make this tire especially suitable for use on asphalt. To prevent the advantage of the large wheel diameter from becoming a nightmare due to the lack of resistance in the harsh conditions of off-road terrain, the tires are mounted on strong aluminum rims from Rode, model TR30, designed for the difficulties of cross-country riding.

To assist us this electric mountain model installed one of the most compact and powerful electric systems on the market today: the Yamaha PW-ST. Equipped with a 250 Watt central motor, capable of delivering 70 Newton meters of stable torque, it allows us excellent control of its operation in five levels of assistance. This not only makes for  more rational use of energy, increasing range, but also frees us from dependence on assistance concerning the pedaling rate. Beyond the 80 revolutions per minute at which the old PW system considerably reduced the power it offered, it assists with full nominal power up to 120 revolutions of the bottom bracket cranks. Add to this the "zero cadence" feature, which puts all the power at our disposal from the first pedal stroke, and we can confirm that we have plenty of power at our service in any situation, no matter how difficult things get and no matter how slowly they force us to ride.

The battery to make these speeds a reality is a lithium-ion battery, capable of supplying 630 watt hours, supported in the aluminum frame angle tube inside a container that keeps it sealed and prevents vibrations during the ride. Although the range is a multi-factor parameter, the manufacturer's calculations promise a staggering 150 kilometers on level ground, which we don't doubt when you consider the possibilities for adjusting the assistance and the number of speeds available. It reaches full charge in about three and a half hours and 80 % in about two and a half hours.

Our touring companion is the Yamaha on-board computer, Side Switch, 1.7" LCD display, brilliantly integrated by the guys at Haibike into the bike's stem and now even more protected from all sides. This interface is operated from a control unit with very ergonomic angular buttons, located on the left side of the handlebars. On the display, the main parameters of the trip, such as speed and distance, and of the operation of the hardnine 7.0, such as remaining battery charge and others, can be viewed visibly and prominently (regardless of the level of ambient light).

The suspension of the HardNine 7 electric mountain bike is made by RockShox, 35 Silver, Steel spring, with 120 millimeters of travel, designed for trial riding, it relieves us from shocks due to off-road irregularities. To adapt it to the real conditions of the ride, it has a pin at the top of one of the posts with adjustment positions, which will regulate the compression speed depending on the frequency with which we face the roughness of the terrain.

The Haibike HardNine 7.0's braking system components are by Shimano and are of the MT410 two-piston type, with 180-millimeter diameter aluminum discs and HC lever on the lever. It is designed for safe and efficient riding, while benefiting from excellent braking control. Innovative technology ensures a perfect combination of impeccable braking reliability and braking control: the lever lever is not only shorter than the previous lever, but also significantly stronger, making it much more pleasant to operate with one or two fingers, which can be advantageous for people with small hands. Fingertip brake application, and getting the most out of the brakes, makes for a much more enjoyable ride.

A 12-speed system, with components designed by Shimano, Deore M6100 technology. The set ensures reliable performance both on mountain routes and in the All Mountain, with electric assistance proposed by Haibike, more aggressive, has a long service life under the difficult conditions of these modalities. Its construction avoids chain jerks and "ghost" shifting even when riding in the rough qualities of MTB. The Deore shifting mechanisms are stiffer and have a more elaborate mechanical workmanship, which also increases the durability of the assembly and the quality of gear shifting at times of maximum stress.
