M1 Sporttechnik SPITZING WorldCup

Description Worldcup Electric MTB:

The MTB models in the M1 range designed by Sporttechnik's designers are undoubtedly among the Royal family of high-performance electric MTBs on the world market today. However, to be the undisputed queen of that group and thus meet the specific needs of some people, they created the World Cup, a bike of superlatives, not only in terms of technology and image, but also in terms of price. It is original and totally German in its quality, design and manufacture.

Those who have tried it will attest that riding it and enjoying its characteristics on the road, whether country, cross country or city, produces an amount of fun that is simply as exceptional as its exclusivity.

The carbon fiber elements include a strong, angular frame with fine-tuned profiles and industrial bearings in the pivot nodes, as well as the sturdy six-spoke rims with their modern design. The engine guard, handlebars and saddle complete the line-up. This set-up is the main reason why the M1 weighs in at 19.3 kilograms without battery, making it astonishingly light, second only to the Rotwild models and carbon models from Haibike or Bulls. With the 880 Watt-hour battery the figure rises to 24.6 kilograms. Even so, what the engineers sacrificed in weight they gained in power, making the Spritzing Worldcup one of the few competitors in the world. The high-quality workmanship of the resin parts and the elegant design of the elements give the bike a simply beautiful "handmade" look.

The lithium cobalt manganese cobalt battery, in addition to spectacular power delivery, has a lot of features going for it. Its full charge time is just over three hours, and in just one hour it reaches 80 % of its capacity. It can be charged while mounted on the bike and even without disconnecting from the system and has no memory effect, so you can charge it at any time without waiting for it to completely lose power. On top of that, it achieves an impressive range of 200 kilometers on level ground. All these features mean that we have an amazing readiness for use.

The center of the pedaling assistance is a very powerful central motor (850 Watts of power and 120 Newton meters of torque), yet very compact (144 millimeters outside diameter), made possible thanks to the use of the pin-ring transmission, patented by the engineers of the group. According to tests carried out by Sport Road Pedelecs riders, this electric MTB was able to develop an average speed of 35.1 kilometers per hour on a 35.5-kilometer-long mountain course, with an average pedal assist ratio of 1.59. Likewise, on a respectable 57.8 kilometers of country roads the M1 was able to average an admirable speed of 36.7 kilometers per hour with an average assist ratio of 2.34. The average power output on both journeys exceeded 400 watts, and at some points topped 700 watts. Such results elicited the unanimous verdict of the testers: "The M1 Sporttechnik are a beast camouflaged as electric bikes that remain surprisingly good even when riding without the motor".

Just as fabulous as the demonstration of power described above is the fact that the shifting system components and chain have performed reliably under these power and speed parameters in difficult enduro conditions. This is the fruit of the quality assured by the prestigious Japanese firm Shimano with its XTR 10- Rapidfire shifting system, as well as the use of a high-quality sensor that monitors the shifting process and instructs the system to instantly and briefly reduce engine power while shifting gears.

To ensure rider comfort while riding this Rolls Royce in aggressive enduro conditions, it is equipped with full suspension, made up of components from the experienced FOX company. In the frame the Fox Float CTD shock absorber and in the fork the Fox Float 36 suspension, both with various adjustment possibilities before the ride to adapt the damping response to the physical conditions of the rider and the programmed route, and during the ride in a simple way to adapt it to the type of terrain or real conditions of each route.

All this power is effectively stopped by powerful hydraulic disc brakes on both wheels from the German firm Magura. At the same time they are sensitive enough to regulate the speed of the bike with frequent and moderate touches on descents and other occasions as required. A braking shut-off function is integrated into the system, whereby the motor is instantly switched off when the brakes are applied.

While riding this fast and sporty racer (the assistance is limited to 75 kilometers per hour) in changing endure conditions, effectively coordinating all the features and possibilities at our disposal would be a real headache. The digital display, which the TQ specialists have installed as an on-board computer on the handlebars, is another of the technological gems of this electric MTB. It provides us with information about the trip, such as the distance traveled, and about the functioning of the bike, such as the state of charge of the battery, among other things. It also calculates our performance for us, such as average speed, maximum speed or remaining range, depending on the battery charge level and the use of the assistance at that precise moment.

The computer offers a wealth of connectivity possibilities. For example, via Bluetooth 4.0, if we have a heart rate sensor or a heart rate monitor, we have the possibility of knowing our physical condition through the screen of the electric bike. Similarly, if you connect your smartphone, it will display incoming calls and text messages. We have the possibility of recording the trip data on our laptop or mobile phone to review them at home, and many other services that offer unlimited fun.
